Being overwhelmed with emotion the first time you see your baby, and finally understanding what people mean when they say “just wait.”

Being nervous your first night home, but feeling so proud as the days pass. We are doing this!

Checking over the edge of the bassinet about a million times before finally going to sleep yourself.

Being so, so, so incredibly tired, but looking into those big dreamy eyes and knowing that this is all worth it.

Telling yourself that you are going to put the baby down and get some stuff done during their nap, but then holding them for the whole nap anyway because time goes so fast, and they are only this little once.

Hard sometimes! Cluster feeding, sleepless nights, the pain after delivery, these things are not easy!

Late at night, when the world is still, looking at your baby while you feed them and thinking, how did I get so lucky?

Looking at your baby and feeling like your heart is a pot of water that's about to boil over.

Finding yourself saying, “how are you a week old already?” “How are you a month old already?” “How are you three months old already?” and so on. I assume this feeling goes on forever.

Absolutely, without a doubt, the best thing that has ever happened to me.
